Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised....Let her own words praise her in the gates". The Women's Fellowship Ministry is an auxiliary of the Jamaica Council of Church of God (7th) Day. This Ministry seeks to assist in the growth and development of the Women of the organization. For a while this Ministry took
a sleeping position until the Woman of God, Evangelit G.L. O' Reggio became impregnated with the idea of a Women's Conference. In 1994, she took on the challenge and made her plans and our first conference was born.
The convention (August 1994) following the Conference a few of us met with Evangelist O' Reggio and a few of our sisters from the Beula Church of God (7th Day), Bronx, New York, namely: Missionary Ruth Harris, Evangelists Sylvia Bennett & Enez Williams and formally set up a Committee to run the Conference on an annual basis and also to have a vibrant Fellowship throughout the year. These sisters even contributed to the funds generated to open our Bank Account.Pastor Romency Blackwood from the Shiloh Church of God (7th Day), Baltimore was guest speaker at one year's conference and shared some insights with us which have assisted us in our growth.
Our Fellowship, even with many oppositions, is moving from strength to strength under the leadership of Christ Jesus. Throughout the year we have Retreats, Women in Action Day in various churches throughout the island, all nigh prayer meetings etc. The Ministry's Aim & Objectives are :-
  1. To create a social atmosphere where members can maintain a closer interaction with each other thus developing a better interpersonal relationship.
  2. To provide a support group which will allow members to share a common interest in the challenges of everyday living.
  3. To help women to understand the importance of their roles in their homes, church and wider society.

To help women to have a better awareness of the empowerment bestowed on them for:

  • The growth of their own spirituality
  • The promulgation of the message of the kingdom of God.
As we prepare for our 9th Annual Conference, scheduled for April 18-20 at the South Coast Resort, May Day, Manchester and has now embarked on the first issue of our Bi-Annual Magazine "The Alabaster Box", we believe God for His continued guidance and is confident that He who has begun a good work in us is able to sustain us to the end.
We undoubtedly have many challenges, but we know that the race is not for the swift but for those who can endure, so as brave soldiers we continue the march, keeping our eyes on the goal and clearly focusing onour leader Jesus Christ.
